If you are planning on building or remodeling
this year, now is the time to start planning your wood
burning fireplace installation. The fireplace for the
home is one area we find many consumers are not aware
of the most recent improvements. Fireplaces today are
more advanced than ever technically and actually can heat
a large portion of a house.
In recent years not a lot of thought
was given to the fireplace that was put in the wall. Many
people have just left it up to the builder or architect
to chose the fireplace for them, the only choice given
to them was the style of mantle and choice for of surround
material such as brick stone or marble. So long as it
looked pretty that was all that was expected.
Today many customers will come to our
store asking for an “insert”, a ”zero
clearance” a “pre-fab” or a “heatilator”.
Many know that there is something out there better for
their home but don’t know exactly how to describe
it. Well we have the answer.
Our specialty is the hi-efficiency wood
burning, heat producing fireplace. We feel we have more
styles and choices of this type of fireplace than anywhere
in eastern Missouri. These types of fireplaces are relatively
new, are air tight and can be built zero clearance into
the wall without expensive masonry. They are much more
than the tin builder box type you will see in most homes.
They are quality, heavy steel units that will last. The
fire can be controlled, lasting thru the night without
refueling. They also can heat a whole house if desired
even as much as 3000 square feet. The nice thing about
them is that they are beautiful as well as functional.
As well as heating there is many choices styles such as
arch fronts, and finishes such as nickel or hammered wrought
iron.
There are some great choices out there
in fireplaces but it takes some advance planning on your
part. Don’t wait too long, its better to have you
fireplace chosen before ground is broken for the home
or remodel started. Many of the newer fireplaces are bigger
than standards of the past and need some specific framing
dimensions given to the builder before installation.
Today home owners are asking their builders
for many upgrades to their home. Brand name kitchen faucets,
granite counter tops, fancy cabinetry. Why not a better
fireplace? It is not uncommon to see very expensive homes
with low quality builder grade fireplaces in them. A fireplace
is something most people will only buy once or twice in
a lifetime.
It’s a fun adventure to choosing
your fireplace, let us at Hechler’s Mainstreet Hearth
& Home help you.
